Popular Korean BBQ Recipe Gets The Filipino Treatment With Bangus Belly In Kalbi Sauce

Kalbi refers to the traditional Korean marinade, based on Korean soy sauce (ganjang), that gives a deliciously sweet soy flavor and an amazing tenderness to beef ribs. Fittingly, word “kalbi” or “galbi” is the Korean word for “ribs”.

This tasty recipe isn’t limited to Korean restaurants alone. It can be made right at your own kitchen—using a guilt-free, homegrown favorite: bangus.

Bangus Belly In Kalbi Sauce

Ingredients

1-410g pack Sarangani Bay Bangus Belly(Cut into 4 pieces)

1/4 cup Brown sugar

1/4 cup Soy sauce

2 tbsp Rice wine

1 tbsp Honey

1 1/2 tbsp Garlic

1/4 cup Onion (chopped)

1/4 cup Spring onions (chopped)

1 tsp Sesame oil

1 small apple (Peeled and grated)

1/4 cup Cooking oil

1 tbsp Sesame seeds (toasted)

Procedure

Combine all ingredients and marinate the fish with half of the sauce.

Put the remaining half to a sauce pan and simmer to reduce.

Panfry fish and drizzle with the reduced sauce.

Place fish on top of rice.

Sprinkle with toasted sesame seeds
